Infant and Toddler Specialist

The Child Development Services team at ChildSavers is seeking a full time Infant and Toddler Specialist. The position has combined administrative and direct service responsibilities and operates under the general direction and supervision of the Child Development Services Senior Supervisor. An 18 month commitment is expected but longer appreciated.

Responsibilities include designing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating training and professional development within a designated region to increase the capacity of early care and education programs (child care and family care) to deliver high quality services to infants and toddlers. Services to IT caregivers/teachers, directors, and families include quality improvement, enhancement, and assurance.

Education and Experience Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in infant and toddler or early childhood education, child development, human services, social work, or child related field required. Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of two years of infant and toddler (IT) experience required, with five years of experience preferred, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. The preferred candidate must demonstrate expertise in infant and toddler development, experience with child care or other early care settings.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, the ability to mentor and coach adult learners, the capacity to build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and to provide services that are culturally competent and appropriate to the needs of the target audience. They possess the capacity to plan and conduct training for adults, and have knowledge of center-based child care and family child care licensing requirements.

Valid VA driver’s license and auto insurance with good driving record required.
